Brainly is an educational platform providing students with both community-generated answers, and professional tutors giving private lessons. We wanted to integrate generative AI to enhance engagement by allowing users to create their own AI tutors (image and video generation), and leverage LLMs to further personalize the content for users and improve their learning journey.

Familiar actions from popular platforms (repost, TikTok Duo, YouTube remix, Instagram filters, etc.) bridge the gap between user expectations and our transformative educational realm.

To address this challenge, I experimented with generative AI tools such as speech-to-text, talking avatars, and LLM generated content. Merging these technologies with characters from the gaming and pop culture gives users the opportunity to create unique interactive content and share it through their community, enhancing collaboration, creativity and their learning experience.

An idea I took from a user interview was to have a ‘ONE STOP SHOP’ in which they could store, upload and save all their study material. After running a Crazy 8 ideation workshop, we created the Brainly Learning HUB, with the intention of moving the user from getting an answer to actively creating their own Study Material in every interactive format you can imagine. This empowers users to create their unique learning journey powered by AI.
